Neemrana evokes memories of bygone eras, where the Aravali range meets the plains of Haryana, ruled by a dynasty of Chauhan Kings under the benign surroundings of lush greenery and protective, steep slopes of hillocks. The Neemrana Fort Palace is unique in design and structure.
After centuries of neglect of these areas under foreign rule, the slumber is changing into motivated activity.
The national and international tourists, statesmen requiring undisturbed peace for their serious deliberations and of course creative artists are veering towards the Neemrana Fort Palace day in and day out. On weekends there is hardly any vacant suite in the fort converted hotel.
The decision of Govt. of Rajasthan to build an Industrial Complex in the foothills has transformed life of this region. National Highway bristle with traffic on 24 X 7 basis. The restaurants and food joints flourish on both sides. The entrepreneurs from all states have gravitated towards this area to establish their industries be it bakeries or breweries, glass or synthetics.
Amidst this fertile land has emerged an Institutional Area. To meet the global demand of manpower in the field of Information Technology, Telecommunications and Management, a number of educational institutions have pitched their tents. The state and central governments, public sector banks & undertakings and foremost of all the philanthropic private education societies are vying with each other to open the institutes of education and training in these fields.
St. Margaret Engineering College is drawing students, not only from its surroundings, but also from metropolis of Delhi & Jaipur. The easy accessibility area, because of Delhi - Jaipur Highway (NH 8) , has added special attraction for parents and students of even far flung towns. Today, Neemrana is micro-cosmic. The managers in the industry and educationists in the institutes are creating a unique progressive culture. The young population of students and trainees are exposed to the global environment in their daily lives through right preparation and training for future global careers.
The Government of Rajasthan has rightly felt the pulse of these activities and selected Neemrana as a future world-class city in the National Capital Region. Neemrana is the knowledge city of the coming days. Information Technology will be the hub of this knowledge and an educational activity will be the foremost enterprise.
Again, Institute of vision and reach, St. Margaret Engineering College is going to show the way of all-round progress of knowledge and information. The Information Industry of Gurgaon is half-planned extension of Delhi. Neemrana will be fully planned, a much more modern and of course a city which will be the envy of the most beautiful cities of the world.
Those studying in its institutes and serving in its industries will remember themselves as proud pioneers of Neemrana – a city on the world map.
St.Margaret Engineering Collage, Neemrana (SMEC) is a dream come true of our founder evaluation-process Late Sh. P. C. Malik. His vision of SMEC was to make it one of the top technical education providers of the country. He was moving steadily and successfully in this direction when the Almighty called him to his heavenly abode and I was made to shoulder this stupendous responsibility.I take it as my bounden duty to carry forward the good work started by my predecessor. I realize that this is not an easy task to accomplish in this ever increasing competitive era.But I am confident that with the cooperation of my colleagues in the management and the support of the SMEC faculty we shall be able to make SMEC the preferred choice of those intending to go in for engineering education. In my opinion simply acquiring knowledge is not enough; more important is how one applies that knowledge. I want that the students passing out from SMEC should not only be academically brilliant but they should be high on interpersonal and social parameters too. For this end in view I would like to strengthen our soft skill delivery system and simultaneously make the students aware of their social responsibilities. With the onset of globalization the technology is rushing headlong into the future at a place that takes one’s breath away. The University curricula hardly keep place with the fast changing technology. To make sure that the students are not disadvantaged SMEC has started offering short-term courses in thrust areas for the benefit of students. The college is in the process of formalizing these value added courses. Following Swami Vivekananda’s dictum, ‘Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached’ we are in the race to win. God give us courage and strength.
“Technology is never the end in itself; it is the means to achieve the final corporate goals”. The critical role that technology is expected to play is beautifully stated in the quote above. Amongst the various opportunities that lie in front of students to help contribute towards this goal, an engineer makes a very pertinent and very rational choice.
Today’s market has enthused massive job opportunities for engineers and it gives us great pleasure to bring young, ambitious & candidates like our students to corporate world. This phase is the most crucial juncture of their career where every step they take and every decision they make is likely to have far-reaching effects on their entire life. We congratulate our students on taking first constructive step for their placements.
Students decision to pursue engineering would probably be the best they have taken so far with the strong determination and will to work hard, and in a couple of years we can see the whole complexion of our students changing forever.
My students are self-disciplined, sincere and ambitious; we ensure that with our help this journey to realize their dreams will be an exciting endeavour surely culminating in a grand success.
